Dear D.W. Merritt Families

April 29, 2020

Dear D.W. Merritt School Families,

I hope this finds you all doing well and staying healthy.  I want to express my sincere admiration to you for being such an extraordinary group of people that are working diligently each and every day to care and provide for your families and our community during these unprecedented times.

The school building is still full of student work, photos, desks, chairs, random pieces of clothing, games, basketballs, etc. yet the heart and soul of the school, our kids, is not there filling the space with joy, laughter and learning. The staff and I miss them so much!

We will continue to reach out and support you as best we can with student learning packets, online learning experiences, phone calls, e-mails, texts and regular posts of photos and stories on the D.W. Merritt website.  The school work that you are doing with your children is outstanding!  Please know that we think of you each day, we miss you and we applaud your efforts!

Third quarter student report cards are in the April 29 learning packets.  You will see that there are no numerical averages listed.  Student progress is indicated with standards codes 1 through 4.  We feel that each student is doing their very best, all under different circumstances, and it would not be accurate to try and put a numerical grade on their learning at this point.  If you have questions, please reach out to me and/or your teachers.  The official last day of school will be June 12.  The remaining schedule for learning packet pick-up and drop-off will be from 10:00-12:00 on the following Wednesdays:  April 29, May 13 and May 27.  The final drop off for any completed work and laptops will be on June 3 from 10:00-12:00.  Report cards and end of the school year awards will be available for pick up on Wednesday June 10 from 10:00-12:00.

Please check the school website regularly for updates, photos, school news and staff email addresses.  The address is: www.msad37.org.  Once there, click sites and then D.W. Merritt.  You may also download the MSAD 37 app on your phones.

Enjoy the warmer weather, take care of each other and stay in touch with family and friends.  Although we must “social distance” our hearts stay connected as we work to support our students, our school families and our community during this difficult time.  Together, we will remain D.W. Merritt Strong!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Lorna N. Greene - Principal
