Dear Parents, Staff, Students and Community Members
It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter. Our Principal, Maria White, passed away yesterday afternoon, Saturday, December 11. She was our principal, a colleague, a mentor, and a friend. The sorrow is too deep and too fresh for any of us to adequately express. My deepest sympathies and concern go out to all of us that are touched by this tragic loss.
Milbridge Elementary School will not be in session on Monday, December 13th. Monday will not be a remote school day. It will be a non-school day for students, a day for grieving and for processing this tremendous loss.
We have implemented our school’s emergency response plan and grief counselors will be available at school for staff on Monday and will continue to be available for students and staff when school resumes on Tuesday.
As we work together to cope with Ms. White’s passing, please let us know if we can offer your child any additional support or guidance during this most difficult time. Please feel free to call if you have any concerns or questions.
