COVID VACCINE CLINIC (DOSE NUMBER 2) Thank you to everyone who participated in our Covid vaccine clinic on 5/21. For students who received the first dose, we will be having a second clinic for them to receive their second and final dose on Friday, June 11, 2021. A second dose is necessary to complete the vaccine series. Keep in mind that this is a half day and will be on the last day of school. If you are transporting your child to the clinic, please arrive between 8:30 and 9:30 to register in the cafeteria. It is very important that your child bring their vaccine card to this appointment. This card was provided to them with their first dose. In order to receive their second dose, they must also return the 3 attached consent forms before Tuesday 6/8. Northern Light was unable to provide translated versions of these forms. If you need assistance with these forms, please let the school know. We have received a lot of interest in the Covid vaccine clinic tomorrow. We have a limited supply so if you wish to have your child vaccinated and have not informed the school, please do so. Consent forms need to be returned today 5/20. If you filled out our survey, your child is on the list but we need their consent forms in order to administer their shot. Please let the school know if you are no longer interested in your child receiving the vaccine so that we can offer it to someone else. The jr. high baseball and softball games scheduled for today have been rescheduled for tomorrow (May 19). Game time is 4:00. Tonight's (May 18th) high school baseball game at Mansfield Stadium will start at 7:00 (not 7:30). Tomorrow's (May 19th) high school softball game at Machias will start at 4:00 (not 4:30)

New Mask Guidance 5-6-21 Due to changes in restrictions from the Governor, masks no longer need to be worn outside - If a 6 foot distance can be maintained between people. Both during school and after school, if 6 feet apart, students and adults do not need to wear their mask outside. If you go inside the building, onto a bus, in a dugout, or huddle up close to one another, the mask has to be put back on.

HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION WILL BE HELD ON JUNE 4, 2021 AT 2PM. 8TH GRADE GRADUATION WILL BE HELD ON JUNE 10, 2021 AT 6PM. Both ceremonies will be held in the gymnasium. Due to COVID restrictions and the hope that some of them may be lifted, many decisions, including how many people will be allowed to attend, have not been made. As soon as details have been worked out, that information will be released.
The Senior Gala will take place on May 22, 2021 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, the public will not be able to attend. Only Seniors and one guest will be admitted. Guests must be approved ahead of time. There will be a professional photographer on the premises at 5:30 for pictures, free to all attending. A nice dinner will be served followed by entertainment.

The Jobs For Maine’s Graduates program at Narraguagus Jr./Sr. High School is recruiting 10th-12th graders for next year. Jobs For Maine's Graduates or JMG is a private, non-profit organization operating in the state of Maine to provide quality programming for students in grades 6 through 12 (10th-12th at Narraguagus). The JMG high school core program is offered in partnership with public schools, and all programs are offered as a for-credit course. Today, Governor Janet Mills designated Washington County as a yellow risk level. Due to this, all after school activities, events, co-curricular and extra curricular activities are cancelled starting today and continuing until our county goes back to green. Sadly that means our Cross Country team will not be participating in the PVC/State Qualifying Race that is scheduled for tomorrow. Also, the Fall Athletic Banquet scheduled for November 4th will be postponed until further notice.

Fall Sports Pictures for high school teams will be taken on Wednesday, October 14 during practice/game times. You can get a picture packet from your coach, or pick one up outside the office. Community Service Opportunity Volunteers Needed for Whiting Corner Cleanup As part of the global World Fish Migration Day, which is a one-day global celebration to create awareness on the importance of free flowing rivers and migratory fish, Downeast Salmon Federation is having a river clean up. It is a simple project for 2 hours, cleaning the area near the Whiting Store on the Orange River. Volunteers should meet at the Whiting Store where DSF coordinators will supply cleanup materials and coordinate the project. COVID-19 restrictions will be observed. Please bring a mask. Jr High Intramural Volleyball will begin on Thursday, October 1st, at Narraguagus. 7th and 8th grade girls who wish to participate should pick up an Elementary Athletic Code at Narraguagus or it may be printed from our website. You must have a permission slip, proof of insurance, and a current physical in order to participate.
Due to current guidelines, only spectators from the home team will be allowed at our home games. All athletes will be given tickets to give out to people they wish to have at their game. Spectators must give their ticket to the ticket taker and enter the field at the designated area. Spectators are required to social distance and wear a mask. Bleachers will not be available. If you do not have a ticket, you cannot get out of your vehicle or enter the field. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to attend away games.
Jr High Coed Intramural Soccer 2020 Jr High Coed Intramural Soccer will begin on Monday, September 28th, at Narraguagus. Times are from 3:00 to 4:15, Monday through Thursday. 6th graders who wish to participate, will be bussed to Narraguagus from each elementary school, except on Wednesdays. All players will need their own transportation on Wednesdays and at 4:15 each day. Students may pick up athletic codes from their school or on our website. In order to participate you must have a signed permission slip as well as proof of insurance and a current physical.

Great News! Student Schedules are done! You may now log into your PowerSchool account to see your class schedule for this 2020-21 school year. If you know your PowerSchool login, you may check it now. If you can’t remember your login or do not have a PowerSchool account yet, please do not call the school. We are sending all students their schedules home in a mailing this week. At the bottom of your bell schedule, you will see "Day". It will list Maroon or White. Even Fully Remote students have been put in Maroon or White so we could divide the classes. You will also notice that your schedule looks like you are supposed to be at school everyday. As you all know, we are doing the Hybrid Model and you will only be at school 2 days a week. Maroon days are Monday and Thursday. White days are Tuesday and Friday. Please do not ask to change from Maroon to White or White to Maroon.
Voluntary Fall Sports Conditioning Today is the start of the MPA Phase 4 VOLUNTARY Fall Sports Conditioning program, which runs for the next two weeks. This is considered summer work, it's voluntary and for those interested in Fall Sports only. Paperwork and physicals are not required to attend these sessions. Paperwork will be required on September 8th. FFA advisors Caroline Foote and David Rinkle with volunteers Denise Vose, Mike Devlin and recent graduate Aislinn Devlin were busy in Mary's Garden on Sunday. Approximately 3/4 of the 4 large garden beds were planted in tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, pumpkins and an assortment of sunflowers. The rest of the garden will be planted in mid-July with Potatoes and herbs. Please remember, the perennial garden portion of Mary's Garden is open to the public and is a wonderful place for peace and quiet.

UPDATE ON SAD 37 SCHOOL CLOSING: With updates from the Governor recommending avoiding groups larger than 50, and the President's that groups be no more than 10, we have made the decision to NOT have school on Wednesday, March 18th as planned. More information will be available Tuesday morning as to how parents can get the schoolwork for their child's remote learning experience.
